Mottisfont, north of Romsey. National Trust house and gardens with cafe's in house and stable yard.

Paultons Park and Pepper Pig World is just one mile down the road and much fun for small children.

Polo - At the New Forest Polo Club, Brockenhurst. Hot drinks, cold drinks (including beer), sandwiches. Check The Polo Times for tournament days (usually 14.00 hours Saturday and/or Sunday). Or see our resident polo ponies play matches at Druids Lodge Polo Club.

Solent Sky Museum, downtown Southampton. History of Supermarine and Flying boats.

The Museum of Army Flying, Middle Wallop. Helicopters and gliders. Good Cafe.

The Royal Amouries, Fort Nelson, Portchester. A Victorian fortress with lots of big guns.

The Tank Museum, Bovington. From the early days of tank warfare to the modern day. TankFest is end June / early July. Good cafe.

Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, east of Winchester.
Things to Do
Some places to visit and things to do locally. Some are energetic and some are less so.

Canoeing - We have a couple of Canadian canoes available with paddles and life jackets. The nearest good paddling is on the Beaulieu River or on the Solent near Lymington.

Cycling in the New Forest. The area is relatively flat with lots of cycle routes nearby. We have a range of cycles. Cycle routes are available online.

Driving - Either on the lawn tractor (with or without a trailer) to practice your mowing skills or one of the our wheel drive vehicles around the paddocks to practice your doughnutting or harrowing skills.

Kayaking and Paddleboarding - We have a wide range of kayaks available with paddles and life jackets. The nearest good paddling is on the Beaulieu River or on the Solent near Lymington.

Radio Control Planes - Single and twin engined electric planes are available. Flying is possible from one of the paddocks or from Furzley Cross, Strawberry Fields Lymington or Beaulieu Airfield.

Sailing - Dingly sailing is on the Solent from Lymington Town Sailing Club. We keep a Sport 14 in the boat park. Laser and Laser Pico dinghies are also available.

Shooting - Clay pidgeon shooting every other Sunday morning at Ower Shooting Ground, some days of the week at Spitfire Shoot or any day of the week at Barbury Shooting School.

Walking - Beautiful walks are possible from the front door into the forest or a short drive will provide many more opportunities.

Airsoft - Ground Zero's woodland site is situated about a mile from the nearest road on the private grounds of Somerley Estate in Ringwood.

Beaulieu Motor Museum, Beaulieu: Lots of cars and motorbikes to see.

Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, near Salisbury. Small museum with varied selection of aircarft.

Go Ape, near Southampton or Bournemouth. Adventures in the forest with ropes and things. Not for the faint hearted.

Hurst Castle, Keyhaven. An ancient fortress and museum on a spit of land at the western entrance to the Solent.

Marwell Zoo, east of Winchester. Varied collection of animals in outdoor setting.
